AOK Website Update

Hi all,

This is what your AOK website group needs to share with each other and me.

A. After you create a delegation doc in Google docs based on my template, you need to share it with everyone in the group (all classes) and Mrs.B

B. You should have decided on a digital space/ way to collaborate. Please share the link with everyone in the group (all classes) and Mrs. B. I had suggested Diigo, Facebook,, or Google docs.

C. You should have decided on a “point person” for every class section and indicate that on the delegation doc.

D. By next class, you should have decided on a template and create your site on Wix using the loggin : and burvalltok as the pass). Please use the following extensions for your URL:

Note: the above are not created yet. They will be created when you choose a template and hit “publish”. Wix will automatically give you the first part, but I am suggesting you put in the end as the name of your site, as I’d like to use this next year.

Planning Your TOK Essay

Now that you have (hopefully) brainstormed in Diigo about 2 of your favorite Essay Titles, it is time for you to start planning your essay.

We’ll be using the PLANNING DOC linked HERE and at the left-hand side menu.

There are some other important and helpful resources (see screen shot)

Please do Steps 1-6 of The “STEPS TO YOUR ESSAY”

2 Great Resources:

Ric Sims is the Chief Deputy Assessor and my trainer for TOK. HERE ARE HIS GUIDELINES (includes timeframe)

also check out Tim Woods’ Top 10 Tips for Scoring High on the TOK Essay AND “How to Structure a TOK Essay” , and “How to Meet all TOK Essay Requirements”

You will be given class time in which to work on this AND your AOK Website delegation sheet. I’ll be in Canada presenting, but Mrs. Uherek will be your sub. At least try to complete in entirety PARTS 1 and 2.

AOK Group Website Project

During our study of the various AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE (Arts, History, Maths, Natural Sciences, and Human Sciences), you will be asked to curate and build a group website repository of various artifacts that will help us probe further in to the nature of each AOK and the knowledge issues associated with it.

1. You have already been asked to sign up for 1st and 2nd choices in the AOK. I tried to give you your first choice, though some students are going to be divided between two choices (therefore you will have fewer responsibilities for each group). I’ve also tried to pinpoint a focus within the TOK (such as architecture, design, literature, etc. in the Arts)

2. Here is the LIST OF YOUR ASSIGNMENTS by AOK and by CLASS PERIOD Those in PURPLE are assigned to more than 1 AOK.

3. What will you be doing? What’s required? Here are the PROJECT SPECS (please see vlogs below)

4. How will you manage the group and delegate jobs? Here’s a PLANNING DOC. Please download (make a copy) of this document and view the sample responses in yellow. Then you can delete them and add yours. Change the title and share with Mr. B in Google docs and/or on Diigo or email. (please see vlogs below)

5. How will you communicate with everyone? Check the color-coding on the list of assignments by class period, and you can see who to work with when we have face-to-face “studio” time in TOK class. You can also communicate in Diigo when your editors start a threaded topic. Use whatever other methods that work for you (social media, email, text, etc.)

6. When is it due? As the project specs sheet indicates, there will be mini due dates and checkpoints, but for the overall due date, final sites are due Dec. 7 (J3), Dec. 12 (D7), and Dec. 14 (N7). We can celebrate with a viewing party (cookies!)
